Summer in Camden

This summer, there are many free and low-cost activities for all ages in Camden, including children and young people. Visit the We Make Camden page for our guide.

Family-friendly and inclusive early evening activities

Families and young people can explore Camden’s vibrant evening calendar of activities and events, such as family cooking sessions, film making workshops, cinema nights, K-pop dance workshops, family play sessions, outdoor campfire evenings and more.

Events and activities will start at various times from 5pm to 9pm and will take place across Camden from 20 July to 1 September. All events and activities are free or low cost.

Preparation, Practice and Potty Training Sessions

We're offering a series of drop-in toilet training sessions at our Children’s Centres and Family Hubs this summer to help support your child to become school ready.

These friendly, practical sessions will give you simple tips and strategies to help you start or continue toilet training at home and feel more confident doing so.

Families attending will also receive a free toilet training pack, including a potty, reward chart and pull-up pants.

You can attend as many sessions as you find helpful.

Curious Coin Club

Join artist and educator Phillipa Ellis in a special workshop designed for children aged five and under, and their adults. Little explorers can dig for hidden treasure, create their very own clay coins and uncover the magic of coin rubbing. In this hands-on adventure, we'll use play, imagination and creativity to explore the collection.

Happy Roots

Join Calthorpe Community Garden’s Early Years stay and play drop in, featuring arts, gardening and outdoor play sessions with an emphasis on early years learning and development. Free snacks for children are provided. Just show up to the session you wish to attend and register on site.

Sorted! The Postal Play Space

Discover an immersive mini town with streets, buildings, trolleys, pulleys, slides and chutes; everything to keep the little ones happily occupied. Sessions last 45 mins, starting from 10am. The last session is at 4pm.

Coram’s Fields under 5s drop-In

A space for parents and carers to enjoy some quality time with their little ones. The space, staffed by a qualified Early Years practitioner, has a small soft play space (for under 2s), reading corner, home corner and creative zone as well as covered outdoor play area.

Holborn Community Association under 5s soft play (drop‑in)

A welcoming drop‑in soft play session offering a range of games and activities to encourage movement, play and fun. A relaxed space for parents and carers to enjoy quality time with their children. Sessions are first come, first served. At busy times you may need to wait for a space to become available. Wheelchair accessible with seating available. Fully accessible facility.

Set within a 7-acre park and playground, there's supervised play and learning opportunities. They offer stimulating, creative, and fun activities where children can play with friends and make new ones. Snacks and water are provided.

Holiday Activities and Food Programme

The Summer Holiday Activities and Food Programme runs from Tuesday 21 July to Tuesday 1 September for children and young people aged 5 to 16 who live in Camden and are eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals. HAF provides free activities and meals.

Charity shiftED are hosting free hands-on after school projects, including metalwork, leather bag making and clay sculpture, in its Makerspace in Holborn Library. Sessions are led by qualified teachers, alongside professional artists and designers.

Firedrakes, Folktales and Falling Stars

Join storyteller extraordinaire Olivia Armstrong for this free summertime series of tales inspired by strange creatures, fantastic fables and the night sky. Suitable for families with children from six upwards, there will be a different enchanting story on each day: Dreadful Dragons and Ghastly Griffins, Fabulous Fables and Folktales, and Cosmic Comets and Shimmering Stars.

The Smurfs and Bastet Trail

This summer, step into a magical adventure with Bastet, the ancient Egyptian guardian cat, and the Smurfs at the British Museum. Follow the trail and race to find the crystals before evil sorcerer Gargamel finds them first and restore the Crystal of Eternity. The adventure takes about 45 to 60 minutes to complete and includes six different galleries in the Museum.

Boys Club provides a safe and supportive space for young people to connect, learn and grow together. The club focuses on building positive relationships, confidence and teamwork through a mix of projects, discussions and creative activities. Previous activities have included cooking sessions, music production, basketball at the nearby park, yoga, podcast creation, video game tournaments, and creating and building an arcade machine from scratch.

Girls Club is led by young women, for young women. The club offers a safe and inclusive space with a wide range of opportunities for fun, conversation, skills development and new experiences. CHC Youth Hub

CHC Youth Hub is a creative wellbeing space where young people can make art, read, relax, or chat with friends. Refreshments are provided, and an experienced artist facilitator is available for support if needed. Participants are very welcome to bring along their own creative projects.

This is a drop‑in session, but it’s best to contact the team in advance in case the session is not running that week. All participants are asked to complete a simple registration form, and registered participants will receive updates about any changes.

Understanding Your Baby class (Togetherness)

This 6 week in-person group course for parents of babies aged 0 to 6 months helps you understand your baby’s needs and build a strong, loving bond from the start. You’ll meet other local parents, while gaining practical tips and confidence around things like crying, sleep, feeding, play and supporting your baby’s early development. Booking is essential.

ADHD Parent Programme
