Your wellbeing before and after birth
If you've recently had a baby or you're pregnant, support is available if you feel:
- sad or have a low mood
- isolated
- anxious or scared about giving birth
- worried about bonding with your baby
Talk to your health visitor or midwife about how you're feeling. They will give you more information about what kind of help is available.
Drop-in groups
Join our drop-in activity groups to meet other parents and get support and advice.
If you are expecting a baby, join our Bump to baby group.
Peer support
We can also pair you with parents and carers in your community for practical and emotional support.
Our Parents Matter wellbeing service, delivered by Family Lives, will pair you with a local volunteer. They will listen to how you're feeling and can:
- visit you at home
- keep in touch by phone, text, or video call
- connect you with parents who have had similar experiences
- speak a range of different languages
If you would like peer support or want to find out more, contact Lana by email on [email protected]
Mental health support
The NHS website has more support for mental health before, during and after pregnancy

- visit the Family Lives website for support by phone, email or live chat
